Why is Physical Activity so Beneficial

Writer: Maggie M.Maggie M.

Physical activity is how we maintain our health to the best of our ability. Physical activity supports our physical shape, mind, and even our social life. There are various ways to use movement, such as walking, lifting, stretching, sports, etc. All of these types of physical activity help us stay healthy, happy, and have a good quality of life.

When physical activity happens on a regular basis, our heart, lungs, muscles, and bones are all strengthened. This in turn reduces the risk for many chronic diseases; and helps the symptoms of any that are present. Exercise improves circulation and lowers blood pressure. This reduces risk for many cardiac diseases. Exercise also is a calorie burner, therefore helping with weight loss, body image, and preventing obesity. Weight-bearing exercises strengthen bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Regular movement also strengthens the immune system and helps in fighting infections.

Another benefit of movement is the dominant effect it has on our mental house. As we move, our bodies release endorphins and other natural chemicals that boost mood and reduce stress. Exercise lowers dopamine which decreases our stress and increases dopamine, improving mood. Adding to that, exercise enhances brain function which grows our concentration, memory, and cognition.

A major component of life is confidence. Physical activity increases our confidence by boosting our self-esteem and increasing motivation to hit those fitness goals and work hard. Exercise also heightens energy levels and aids in fighting fatigue by providing stamina and strength. A fun fact is that regular exercise can boost longevity and actually help individuals to live longer.

Physical activity is one of the best ways to nourish and support your inside and outside health. Not only does exercise help to strengthen the bones, heart, and muscles. exercise increases brain cognition and boosts our mental well-being. Whether it’s a daily walk, a workout at the gym, or a long run, making movement a daily part of life will lead to the overall feeling of happiness and enjoyment. This is why physical activity is necessary and why we should find activities we love.
